Three ex Triathlete Dads competing in all three distance triathlons as a team at the Tinman Triathlon, 23rd Nov raising money for Starship.
Mount Maunganui, Tauranga
Andrew Lloyd, Aiden Dunster and myself, Sam Durrant will be competing as a team in all three distances at the Tinman Triathlon on the 23rd November.
The three of us are all recently new dads with our children under the age of three.
The Tinman triathlon is an iconic triathlon at Mount Maunganui that the three of us have done many times as individuals in our teens and 20’s. We decided to team up and do something fun together that we believe may have never been done before but also to raise money for a great cause in Starship along the way! Starship is a charity we hope to never have to use but we believe is such an important asset to families in New Zealand.
The distances will be an Olympic (1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run), sprint (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run) and short (300m swim, 13km bike, 3km run) triathlons, all in the same morning!
We will all be doing one discipline in each event with very small room for error with start times being close together 😬
Feel free to donate as much or as little as you can afford, come along to the Mount next Sunday (23rd) and give us a much needed cheer (we’ll definitely be needing it by the third triathlon).
Thanks,
The Three Tri Dads
We did it! 12 December 2025
We’ve hit $3000!
The Tinman went better than expected.
Firstly we had great fun doing the three event and having our family there to support.
The icing on the cake was getting a 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the three events.
We now need to look for something bigger to raise more money for Starship!
