To combine our passion for adventure with your generosity, to make a contribution towards the next bikes that the Trust distributes.
Wellington
New year, new challenge - with a few close friends, one of them being my best friend and hubby, Brendan, we're about to tackle Tour Aotearoa 2020, riding 3,000km from Cape Reinga to Bluff … on a bike! Not an electric bike but on a mountain bike built for endurance not speed - much like my husband!
Some say crazy, but we say what an awesome way to see the beautiful country that we live in.
Over the past few months as preparation and training has intensified, and our health both physically and mentally has been positively impacted we turned our thoughts to how we might use our adventure to then benefit others, pay it forward you might say.
Over the past few years we've repeatedly come across the great work of Te Awakairangi Access Trust and have been part of some of their cycling events. The team at the Trust have several initiatives that are giving kids in need a leg up and providing opportunities in sport, education, technology, arts and events … and you guessed it, very appropriately for some kids the Trust gets them riding a bike - Bikes4Kids. As we love riding and are able to do so we thought it would be fitting to be able to give kids the opportunity to also fall in love with and experience the freedom of riding. Who knows, we might inspire a child to become a budding tri-athlete, a Tour de France cyclist or maybe just complete the TA and ride through our beautiful country.
You can read all about their good work here, www.takatrust.org.nz
All in all this was an easy call to combine our passion for riding and adventure with your generosity. We believe all kids should experience the excitement of riding a bike and the independence that can give them. Our goal is simply to make a meaningful contribution towards the next bikes that the Trust distributes and I thank you all in advance for helping. We will kick off our sponsorship by donating the first $100.00

For those who know me well you will appreciate how much of an extra challenge this will be with my sense of direction, I think I will invest in an extra tracker, just in case.
We have got to know the work the trust in recent years, participating in some of their organised events and wanted to be provide them with some support where we did the work for them for a change.
