For the second year in a row, I’m taking on the Inter-station Relations Marathon by Any Means to raise money for Te Kiwi Māia -The Courageous Kiwi Trust, an organisation that is incredibly important to me.
The challenge is a 43km course between two fire stations in Tauranga. The whole idea is that we can achieve things we might not have thought possible when we challenge ourselves physically and mentally, with the support of people around us.
And after three months of European food, cocktails, desserts and treating walking to the next restaurant as my exercise, the physical challenge part is definitely going to be real this year. Apparently eating and drinking my way around Europe and Asia for three months isn’t considered adequate marathon training…
But behind the laughs is a cause I genuinely care about.
Te Kiwi Māia supports first responders and veterans with rehabilitation, recovery and wellness after physical and psychological injury. The work they do for people who spend their lives helping others means a great deal to me.
So, on Wednesday 28 October, I’ll somehow be making my way through all 43km… running, walking, or crawling!
If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, I would be incredibly grateful. Every dollar raised goes towards helping Te Kiwi Māia continue the important work they do.
And if nothing else, consider your donation motivation for me to undo three months of eating and drinking my way across two continents.
Thanks so much for your support!
