Support team Tuk Tuk Boom as we compete in The Rickshaw Run – Sri Lanka, January ‘24 as we raise funds for Gumboot Friday.
Christchurch, Canterbury
My awesome friends Jack, Hannah, and I are heading to Sri Lanka to race a tuk tuk around the country and raise funds for Gumboot Friday — connecting young people to counselling as soon as they need it. Join us as we spread the word and make a difference for at-risk youth navigating their mental health journeys in Aotearoa.
We’ll traverse the country of Sri Lanka, apply the No. 8 wire mentality to roadside repairs, and, importantly, have honest, open conversations about mental health. All funds raised go directly to connecting young people with counsellors so our kids get help as soon as they need it.
NZ Mental Health Statistics showed New Zealand is one of the leading countries in the world for youth suicide. Last year in New Zealand 137 young people died by suicide and it is estimated another 3,500 attempted to take their own lives. The Gumboot Friday initiative works tirelessly to change these outcomes for at-risk rangatahi in Aoteroa.
We want to normalise conversations around mental health and accessing support as part of the toolkit we all need and should have easy access to.
Please give what you can and help us make a difference. If you aren’t in a position to donate, please share this cause and spread the word! Stay tuned for updates from the Tuk Tuk Boom team
