Turntables and Therapy: SMOKEY + KEGZ mixing beats for mental health

We're SMOKEY + KEGZ, two mates who normally spend our weekends smoking meat, but we've recently traded that in (temporarily) for a different kind of cooking! We've entered Your Shot NZ, a beginner DJ competition where we go through an intensive 6-week DJ bootcamp to perform our very first live set in front of an audience on Labour weekend. We're super excited to have this opportunity, and thought that if we were going to make some noise, we might as well make it mean something too.

Mental health is a cause close to our hearts. Everyone in the creative scene knows how tough it can get behind the energy and noise. Gumboot Friday provides free counselling for Kiwi youths struggling with mental health, and that's something we're proud to stand behind.

This fundraiser is our way to give back. All donations made here go directly to Gumboot Friday. We'll also be giving the cause a shout-out during our set, and have a QR code on our lanyards for anyone at the event who wants to chip in!
