Verdon College Caritas Challenge 2024
Invercargill, Southland
The Caritas Challenge is an annual event for schools and youth groups around New Zealand to demonstrate solidarity with those living with poverty or injustice.
This year, Verdon College, alongside community members, will participate in a series of events to support this cause:
24-Hour Cycling Challenge: Participants will cycle in shifts to cover 24 hours to symbolise the endurance and hardship faced by those who must work tirelessly to provide for their families.
'Walk for Water' Relay: This event mimics the struggles of communities that lack access to clean water, with participants walking set distances while carrying water buckets to highlight the effort many must go through just to obtain this basic necessity.
Baking Workshop: Participants will bake goods under demanding conditions to distribute at a local church.
All proceeds from these events are greatly appreciated and will be donated to Caritas to support their vital work around the world.
