Please donate and help me support the Blind Low Vision NZ (formerly, Blind Foundation)
Auckland
One in four Kiwis live with a disability. This means that one quarter of New Zealanders face access barriers each day, making some daily tasks and activities unnecessarily difficult. Accessibility is different for everyone – it may affect you directly, or someone you are close to.
Global Accessibility Awareness Day was last week and is an opportunity to reflect this month, and to learn how small changes to the way we do things, can have a huge impact on someone’s accessibility needs. For example, in terms of their physical environment, access to the written word or employment.
Blind Low Vision NZ aims to raise awareness about accessibility, not just for people who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision – but for all Kiwis who have accessibility requirements. Check out this great Blind Low Vision NZ short video to learn more: https://youtu.be/LaDv7ZcUSZE
Thank you if you have kept reading to this point. I’m really hopeful I can meet this fundraising target for this important cause, and in the meantime I’m off to source a merino beanie and survival blanket which I’m informed is mandatory kit on the day!
Thank you,
Nicky
Thank you, you’re awesome! 11 June 2022
Over $1000 raised for NZ Blind and Low Vision last month which is terrific. Thank you so much. I made it to the finish, just. It was a lot harder than I anticipated. One third mud, one third small goat track in beautiful NZ bush, and one third uphill and steep unforgiving ridges. Spent a lot of time looking at my feet trying not to bail! Thanks again for taking the time to contribute, I’m hugely grateful and thankful for your support. Have a great weekend, Nicky xxxx
