Wheely serious fundraiser for Team New Zealand Roller Derby

  • It's all about being real, right?

My last updates have been late coming, and I owe you some minutes.

The week of the 17th of March was a tough one. While I got in about 40minutes of rolling in the first couple of days, the rest of the week was almost non-existant. I had a very painful biopsy on a lump I've had in my throat for a while (still waiting on results), and then two days later had a cortisone shot in my hip joint.

While I did skate about 30mins outside of regular SCSR training on Monday 24th, after seeing my physio on Tuesday and being told off (oops), I took it easy until Saturday and Sunday's Team New Zealand training.

If I were to count the minutes I skated at various trainings, I would have easily covered my commitment, but that isn't what we signed up for, right? So over the next week, even though the challenge has ended, I will skate an additional 200 minutes to ensure I've covered my end of the deal.

Thank you to EVERYONE who has supported me and the team with this campaign and our other fundraising efforts. We appreciate it heaps <3

So much rolling this week, it was awesome! Probably the best thing was our street skate last night with a bunch of other Steam Rollers. We ended with food at our favourite Rotorua Mexican restaurant, El Mexicano Express on Amohia Street, so good!

I have logged 168 minutes of rolling, that's around d 24mins per day. Not as good as last week but I'm still at it! 90mins on skates, 28mins on my actual bike and around 50mins on the gym's assault bike and my stationary bike at home.

Our fundraising is going really well, thank you to everyone who has supported Team New Zealand, you guys are awesome! Please continue to share our Givealittle page around, you never know if the next lotto winner is in your circle! Haha ❤️

Aside from regular SCSR trainings this week, I have logged 233 minutes of rolling, thats around 30mins per day! 62mins on skates, 21 mins on my actual bike and around 150mins on the assault or stationary bike at home and the gym.

This weekend we also had a Pirate Union training (an Auckland team I skate for) which ran for two half days. I skated around 5.5hrs (before I took a fall and hurt my shoulder! Don't worry, I can fix it!).

Thanks everyone for your support, it means heaps to me xx

  • Fun so far!

It's been fun to have the incentive to roll more this month! The last couple of days were pretty standard on my bike, but today on skates was great!

Arrived at training early and instead of napping like I usually do, I put my outdoor skates on and did some laps of the event centre carpark. Bloody hot! But fun.

Will post my activity update at the end of the week.

    Thanks everyone for your support!
