Since 1997 the Kaharoa kokako population has increased from 12 breeding pairs to over 60 pairs of birds, with many juveniles coming on. This healthy population supplies surplus kokako for translocation to other protected areas of New Zealand.

Thank you so much for your donation, as a charity we rely on donations for enhancing the natural diversity of the conservation area we manage. At present we are working to protect rare ferns and epiphytes as well as re-introducing NZ Mistletoe to the area. These make up part of the diet our kokako feed on. Once again thank you very much.
