Providing possum and rat control during the nesting season so kokako chicks can fledge.

Since 1997 the Kaharoa kokako population has increased from 12 breeding pairs to over 60 pairs of birds, with many juveniles coming on. This healthy population supplies surplus kokako for translocation to other protected areas of New Zealand.
