Lantern House Trust is a charity aiming to build a home away from home for persons with high need disabilities.
The house will be a home away from home with the parents still actively involved in their children's lives but knowing that they are somewhere safe, secure and stimulating as they grow older.
We have raised over $140,000 to date! With the generous donations from our supporters, we have no doubt that our aim of building a house for persons with intellectual and/or physical disabilities will become reality!
Update for 22/10/2014 22 October 2014
In July we formed a partnership with Habitat for Humanity Taranaki to build a five bedroom house in Inglewood. The section has now been purchased and plans are well underway for the plans being drawn up and the build proposed to start late February through to May 2015. The Lantern House Trust and Habitat are now seeking more funding through various means including applications already made to several trusts. To learn more about Habitat for Humanity Taranaki please visit their Facebook page or their national website www.habitat.org.nz. The local Taranaki affiliate has built 32 homes for families in need to date and this will be their biggest build yet. Enthusiasm is high as the prospect of volunteers in the community come together to help build this much needed home away from home.
