P.A.W.S Animal shelter

Hello everyone 👋

You may remember Marley and Mumma who we advertised a couple years ago. We desperately wanted to home them together as they had not had much of a life before coming to us,but the one consistent thing in their lives was that they had always had each other. Marley especially was extremely dependent on her Mum, so much so that she would stress badly if mum wasn't around. We thought that separating them at ages 6 & 8yrs was not conducive to their welfare or happiness. Unfortunately we just couldn't find them a suitable home for the two of them. We did have offers to home them individually but even though "Mumma" would have probably been quite happy we knew this would be extremely tough on Marley and when we look for new homes we always take ìnto consideration their emotional needs as well as their physical ones.

We have often taken in pairs of dogs and although we try and home them together we accept that that's just not always possible and more often than not the dog's do cope really well once they adjust to their new home and environment. Some dogs will in fact thrive amazingly well after being separated. Sadly this was never going to be the case with Marley and Mumma🤷‍♀️. So....decision time....What to do with these two giants😳 The MOST important thing above all MUST be quality of life over quantity, and if that quality, for whatever reason cannot be met... hard and always painful decisions have to be made...

You can't just keep a dog in kennels just for the sake of keeping it alive if you can't provide quality of life.

Well after lots of talks with Mumma and Marley's amazing foster mum and dad it was decided that they would become PPP's (Permanent Paws Pups) and live in their foster home for the remainder of their lives. They are financially supported by PAWS and we will provide them with everything they need.
