The Rimutaka Incline Railway Heritage Trust aims to reinstate and operate a heritage railway between Wellington and the Wairarapa.
Restoring significant heritage railway vehicles, providing interpretation and a heritage experience for visitors to our railway.
The Trust was formed in 2003 and since then has focused on establishing a base at Maymorn. This work has included building a secure shed to store our rail vehicles. Rail vehicle restoration and track laying. The Trust is now running public open days so that the public can come and see what we're doing.

Didn't have cash on us when we visited, which was a silly oversight, but we were let through anyway and everyone we met was super friendly and we learnt heaps.
Thanks for the awesome experience!
