The Auckland Community Law Centre gives FREE legal advice to Aucklanders who can't afford a lawyer.
Auckland
The Auckland Community Law Centre (formerly Grey Lynn Neighbourhood Law Office) provides FREE legal services to members of the Auckland community.
There are also community law centres based in South Auckland, Mangere, and Waitemata. There are 24 community law centres throughout New Zealand, including centres that specialise in youth (Youthlaw), disability (Disabiilty Law), and Maori Land (Ngai Tahu).
Our services are designed to empower people to resolve their own legal issues. We mostly do this over the phone with information, advice, assistance and self-help resources. We also provide legal education seminars.
In some situations we will represent a person as their lawyer. We only do this if we have enough resources, and usually reserve it for serious issues, such as when a person is experiencing:
- loss of income
- loss of housing
- harm in the home or community
- a serious social justice issue
We are funded to prioritise people on low incomes.
