TechMate needs funding now to keep the charity running until the end of 2024. We need to raise $50,000 to keep delivering our current services.

At TechMate, we're passionate about empowering individuals with the digital skills they need to thrive in today's world. Our mission is clear: to close the digital divide and ensure equal accessibility to technology for all. We believe that by providing free services and support, we can make a real difference in people's lives. In the past 12 months, we have helped over 1200 people by giving all the following for free:

Over 700 free lessons or tech support on device use

Over 225 free repurposed laptops to people who need a device for education or home management

Over 90 free modems that allow plan-free low-cost internet access

Over 60 free or low-cost laptop repairs to people who could not afford to pay for a repair or buy a new device

Completed 67 free home visits in the last 8 months helping people who are elderly or disabled

and helped more than 100 job seekers create CVs or search for jobs

Helped over 70 refugees get free laptops to start their New Zealand education journey

Imagine not being able to apply for jobs online, connect with loved ones, and access essential services with just a few clicks. That's the reality for anyone who can’t use their phone, tablet, laptop or desktop easily. From basic device usage to internet safety, our team is here to provide free personalized help sessions at 21 community centres across Christchurch. We now offer home visits for retirees and people with disabilities, ensuring that no one is left behind.

But our impact doesn't stop there. We understand that access to technology is only part of the equation. That's why we partner with over 80 organizations in Canterbury to identify those in need of lessons and donated repurposed laptops each month. These devices not only bring people online but also open doors for education, employment, and social connections.

And let's not forget about internet connectivity – a necessity in today's modern world. Through programs like Jump, we're able to offer low-cost pre-paid internet access to households who can’t afford to commit to an expensive monthly plans, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to stay connected and informed.
