Hello everybody, we are counting down to the last showing of the production Return to Eden for the year 2013. We have given 3 shows in all and I estimate that over 1600 people have come and been BLOWN AWAY by what they have experienced in Kelston, Auckland City and in Glen Innes. This production has touched lives, yes, touched lives!! we have heard testimony after testimony about how Return to Eden has healed people, we have heard of families being restored and fathers weeping as they repent to their children, we have seen hardened gang members break down in tears, we've had people who watched our first show come back to the next one with their whole extended family, we have heard of families using Return to Eden as a reference point to bring correction to wrong mindsets and attitudes, our inbox is full of such testimonies and we believe Return to Eden will be a vehicle that will promote social reform in New Zealand and other nations. All these testimonies and the lives being impacted by this production make all the hard work and expense worth it, we believe this production will and has already SAVED LIVES!!!! Please HELP US continue to keep doing this production and ensuring it remains FREE. Our last production will be at Malaeola Community Centre in Mangere on the 24 November 2013 at 7.30pm. Please come and watch and see what everyone is talking about. Please ensure young children are accompanied by an adult. Much love from Breakthrough Church Auckland.

THIS IS AN ARTICLE ON THE WESTERN LEADER DATED 18.10.2013 PRIOR TO OUR KELSTON SHOW; TOUGH TOPIC ON SHOW: OVERCOMING OBSTACLES: David and Leva Faafua, both 25, star in the production and say the messages portrayed and challenges faced by the characters are true to them. Suicide, depression and bullying aren't often easy to talk about. But members of Auckland's Breakthrough Church are prepared to put the spotlight on issues that are all too often swept under the carpet. They will bring a free stage production Return to Eden to Kelston this Sunday. True stories from each cast member make up the fabric of the play which focuses on bullying and depression. It follows the struggles of 10-year-old Joshua - born to teenage parents Ana and Jason who never planned on having a baby. Joshua is on the receiving end of constant taunts from his family and is bullied by older school students which makes him feel there's no way out. Kelston residents David and Leva Faafua, both 25, play Ana and Jason in the production and have revisited aspects of their past for their roles. ""Everything in the script is real to us,"" Mrs Faafua says. ""It's more powerful for people to get on stage and perform something real to them."" The pair married at 21 and have two children together but things weren't easy when they discovered they were expecting. ""My parents told me I couldn't have the baby and I got to a point where I didn't want to live anymore. I felt I had no purpose,"" Mrs Faafua says. Mr Faafua also felt pressure and high expectations from his family. ""I resorted to things like alcohol and hanging with the wrong people. I was disowned from home and had to live in a backpackers. Things got really hectic,"" he says. The couple found hope and guidance through the church and have since been able to reconnect with their families. Production director Lynette Leota has battled bipolar in the past and says the production aims to bring about social change, especially within the Pacific Island community where suicide rates are high. ""If we don't stand up now this will become the norm and this is our way of taking a stand,"" she says. ""A lot of churches feel the issues are too much or too heavy but we have to be quite confronting about it to make a change. It's good to be controversial,"" she says. The cast will travel to Tonga next April to perform and will present the show at Kelston Boys High School auditorium this Sunday at 7pm. Call event manager Pamela Savieti on 021 081 57 077 for information.

Woohoo we got our first donation. Thank you very much!!! We are calling out to people who watched or heard about the Return to Eden production. If you were impacted by Return to Eden and you feel that everyone needs to watch this life changing production. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Everybody involved in this show does so voluntarily, we are not trained actors or even singers, we put our time, efforts and money into this because we are appalled by the rise in child suicide and bullying and we believe we MUST do something about this. We will not just stand here and let it happen!! We have heard from teenagers who have watched the show and have told us this is real life, this is really happening! We have heard from young gang members who were reduced to tears and telling us that EVERY teenager needs to watch this. We believe this production will SAVE lives!!! We are calling for YOUR help, help us fund this production, we are not looking for a profit, we just need your help to reach those at risk. Every cent donated will only go towards costs incurred. Much love.

The number of youths taking their own lives had surged by more than 40 percent. Most were males. What was concerning was that the stats found young Pacific people were twice as likely to have depression, mental disorders, anxiety issues, or to make suicide attempts as the rest of the population. gI worry a lot about the fact it disproportionately affects Maori and Pacific boys. We can see where the issue is prevalent?itfs been a longstanding problem,h he says. But he conceded the issue was a complex one and the Government didnft have all the answers.       16 October 2013

The majority of the Pacific population in New Zealand are located in the Auckland region, living primarily within urban areas. Of all Aucklanders under the age of 15, 18% are Pacific people. Population projections estimate that there will be an increasing concentration of Pacific people in the northern part of the North Island in the next 10 to 15 years. The Auckland region is projected to have the largest numerical increase with the number of Pacific people residing within its boundaries increasing from 176,000 in 2001, to 253,000 by 2016. Much of the projected growth for Pacific people is projected to occur in Manukau City. As a result of the speed at which the Pacific youth population is growing, and in the face of a generally ageing population, Pacific young people will make up an increasingly large proportion of the New Zealand labour force within the next twenty years, playing a critical role in New Zealandfs social and economic development.
