Bluff Hill Motupohue Environment Trust is dedicated to the restoration and protection of the natural environment on and around Bluff Hill.
Southland
Our trust has been restoring native habitat on Bluff Hill Motupōhue since 2008. Back at the start, our podocarp forest had gone silent because predators were devastating flora and fauna. Since then, the efforts of our volunteers have controlled pests to the point where the forest is once again alive with the songs of native birds.
Now, our mahi is being extended across the whole hill and we're ready to step up to the big challenge - reintroducing tieke and kiwi onto Motupōhue by 2028. This will involve a huge surge in work... and the deployment of expensive traps, sensors and cameras to eliminate predators.
Your donation is important - to achieve our goal, we need to raise more than $3M. That's going to involve a diverse range of funding sources large and small.
