Helping keep adventure alive - Boyle River Outdoor Education Centre 🌿

How lucky are we to have someone so dedicated to what he believes in!

In April 2026 Winston Cowie is taking on one of the toughest Ultra events in the world - the iconic Marathon Des Sables, which involves running seven marathons in seven days across the Sahara Desert in Morocco.

He is raising funds for kids and education, supporting the Boyle River Outdoor Education Centre (see more below) and 2041 Schools Antarctica.

Please support these charities as Winston Runs 270kms for us across the Sahara!

For nearly 50 years, Boyle River has given young people the chance to step outside their comfort zones, build resilience, and discover what they’re truly capable of. From challenging hikes, climbing and high ropes to confidence-building team experiences, this special place changes lives in ways that last far beyond camp.

We operate to make a difference. Every dollar we receive is carefully reinvested back into the centre. Funds go directly toward essential transport and food costs, reducing the financial barriers for schools and families while making outdoor education accessible to more students as well as upgrading and maintaining our facilities, ensuring our equipment is safe and modern, and preserving the natural environment that makes these experiences possible.

Every contribution helps keep the spirit of adventure, growth, and connection thriving.

More about us

The Boyle River Outdoor Education Centre is operated by the not-for-profit North Canterbury Alpine Trust. Nestled between the Sylvia Tops and the Libretto mountain range in the Lewis Pass.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
