Bras and Brass Foundation

Help us raise funds for and awareness of Breast Cancer. Bras and Brass is a not-for-profit group of more than 100 women musicians from across New Zealand. Established in 2018, our mission is to raise funds for and awareness of breast cancer, and to have fun doing so.

In April 2024 we established the Bras and Brass Foundation, which is a registered incorporated charitable trust. The principal charitable objectives of the Foundation are to:

- support the fundraising efforts of Bras and Brass Band

- raise awareness of Breast Cancer in women and men

- support the Breast Cancer Foundation of New Zealand for breast cancer research

- support brass musicians across New Zealand that have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer

Bras and Brass is self-funding. It does not rely on financial support from the Brass Band Association of New Zealand and it does not receive funding from the Government. Members of the band personally fund their own travel to wherever the band rehearses and performs. The band relies on a group of volunteers who donate their energy, skills, talent and time to produce and publicise concerts.

For those that have performed in the band, you will know how much fun it is to come together, to make fun yet challenging music, and to enjoy the company and fellowship of each other. Each gathering is like a family reunion. We are an inclusive group and have a whole heap of fun along the way.
