  • Gordon’s had a setback.😞

Gordon’s recovery has had a setback. His surgical wound has reopened, and I took him back yesterday to the vet for assessment.

There’s concern that he may have abnormal skin growth, which could be contributing to the wound reopening and may also explain the horn-like growths he developed earlier in the year.

We were given the difficult choice to either let him go or try to get the infection under control and see how he responds. For now, we’ve chosen to proceed with treatment and close monitoring, with Gordon’s comfort and wellbeing as the priority.

Thank you for the kindness and support that allows us to respond quickly when our animals need extra care. We’ll keep you updated. 🌸 Here is a photo of him just 2 weeks ago after his stitches came out. Even with this setback, he’s still our happy, crowing boy.

  • A long overdue update 🌸

Today is Give a Little Day — a national celebration of generosity — and Givealittle is completely fee-free for charities for today only.

That means every dollar donated to Canterbury Tails reaches our animals in full. And right now, there is a lot happening!

Frankie has been struggling with breathing issues and has collapsed a couple of times. She’s now on twice-daily medication and in a quieter space so she can rest. We’re working closely with our vet and hoping to see improvements soon.

Our boy Gordon recently had surgery on his comb after a persistent infection. He’s eating, preening, crowing to the other boys, and enjoying little bits of sunshine in his recovery run. He’ll be reunited with his brother William once his sutures come out next week.

Our sweet senior sheep Lucky is also on daily medication at the moment. She needs a bit of extra care and monitoring, but she is loving life with with good food, gentle routines, and lots of love.

We took Panda, Charcoal & her wee lamb to their wonderful new home. Everyone is doing beautifully.

Hercules and Hershey were rehomed a couple of weeks ago and are settling in so well . Will update soon!

We’ve said goodbye to Spike, and also to our little brown hen who passed peacefully at the vet in my arms. It never gets easier, but they were loved, comforted, and safe at the end.

If you’d like to support us on this special fee-free day it would be very appreciated!

  • 🐷 Paul’s Vet Visit Update 🐷

      16 June 2024
    Main image

The photo is of Paul back on the trailer coming out of his anesthetic.

Its been 2 weeks since Paul had his big trip to the vet. Thankyou so much for all of your kind words.

Paul handled the trip really well. He wasn’t stressed, and upon arrival, he received plenty of pats. 🐾 Unfortunately the X-rays revealed changes in his foot and arthritis. Paul is now on daily meds for pain and inflammation. Our goal is to get him settled onto a joint supplement.

We need financial help with his vet bill. The vet bill for his visit and xrays cost $1,457.99. Please help us if you can. We appreciate all of our donors.

    Thankyou

Our beloved Paul needs your help. He’s facing a health challenge with his foot that requires investigative treatment, and our vet bills are mounting. Our vet believes there is an infection in his joint that needs an xray and flushing. Paul is being referred on for this further treatment and we need to raise funds. Every dollar you donate goes directly to providing medical care for Paul and to pay the existing vet bill. Paul depend on us, and we depend on your kindness and generosity. Please donate 🌸
