Coastguard Kapiti Coast

Coastguard Kapiti Coast

Your donations help us to bring people home when the worst happens out at sea. All donations are welcome - large and small.

Wellington

The Kapiti Coast is a great family-friendly area, and a great location for recreational boating, fishing, diving, and many other activities for people who simply enjoy the ocean (kayaking, surfing, kitesurfing to name a few). Our coast is getting more popular all the time, and it's great to see people enjoying the stunning natural environment.

But sometimes the unexpected happens, and on the ocean things can turn bad very quickly. That's when Coastguard units all over the country are ready to respond.

Here on the Kapiti Coast we have two bases and two rescue vessels - one at Paraparaumu Beach and one at Waikanae Beach. We train for the worst, and if someone gets into trouble at sea, both our boats and volunteer crews are ready to respond - at any time of day or night, 365 days a year.

We can only do this because of the money that people donate, and we appreciate every dollar.

The big costs are obvious - for example we have to maintain, service and insure our vessels, facilities and equipment. But the small expenses can be the most important. $30 dollars of diesel can be enough to help us go out, find someone in trouble, and bring them safely home.

So please donate if you can. You might not be on one of our rescue boats, but you can still be part of what we do.
