Fundraising for a new Coastguard Rescue Vessel for Waiheke Island.
Waiheke Island, Auckland
Coastguard New Zealand exists to save lives at sea, and we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year for the people of Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Our vessels are manned completely by volunteer crew. Without the selflessness of these 2,000+ active volunteers we would simply not exist.
One part of this crucial emergency service in the Hauraki Gulf is Waiheke Volunteer Coastguard Inc (“Coastguard Waiheke”). Initially created as the rescue arm of the Waiheke Boating Club in 1990, Coastguard Waiheke became part of the national coastguard organisation in 1997.
Our most critical piece of equipment is our rescue vessel - Waiheke Rescue. At 13 years old, Waiheke Rescue is nearing the end of its useful days.
We need a new rescue vessel.
Please help us. We need to raise $1 million to ensure our service remains viable.
Coastguard Waiheke is a small unit of 25 volunteers, serving boaties across the Hauraki Gulf.
