Nelson / Tasman
Community Art Work's vision is to provide a range of programmes that enable a range of community groups and individuals to access arts as a way of creative self expression and self development.
They achieve this through the following;
- promoting the philosophy that all people have the right to creative expression and encouraging the development of their potential for creativity and personal growth
- providing a supportive space for creative expression for a wide range of participant groups
- initialing and supporting a range of arts projects involving a range of participant groups and community settings
- providing a specialist service for people with intellectual and development disabilities, to enable creative self expression
- encouraging broad engagement between the sectors catered for and the general public
- liaising with other arts organisations to facilitate access to arts for all members of the community
- working to stimulate partnerships between the arts sectors and the justice, social, health, education and related voluntary community services.
Community Art Works aims to encourage and develop arts access and participation for people with intellectual disabilities, young people and those who are disadvantaged and cannot access the arts in the Nelson region through mainstream channels
The funds raised will go towards ensuring the essential services that Community Art Works provides to enable the general public (especially children / young people, older people, people with disabilities, migrants and refugees) can be maintained and extended
