In memory of a beautiful man, whose passion for science enthused students young and old. Our aim to continue his good work in science.
Pukekohe, Auckland
Dave Young was passionate about learning. He was an enthusiatic high school science teacher. He was dedicated to encouraging his students to 'do their best' at whatever level that may be.
Dave's personal commitment to learning was passed on to his students through his upbeat and enthusiastic lessons. He loved science and knowing how the world worked.
This charity, created in memoriam to Dave, will continue his good work in encouraging and supporting students to follow their passion in their chosen science field. The charity offers scholarships to students who have either -
- struggled academically, but try all the time and wish to continue their studies or
- worked through adversity to achieve their grades or
- are academically able but may struggle financially or
- come from a disadvantaged home and wish to continue their studies
Dave was tragically killed during the Auckland floods in January 2023. Out of such sadness hopefully some good can come.
I am the widow of Dave, who died in the Auckland floods. Family and friends have all wanted to turn something positive from our tragedy; so we created a charity that will continue Dave's passion of enthusing students in science.
