Disabled Citizens Society

Disabled Citizens Society

Dedicated to empowering disabled individuals through meaningful work, life skills training, and lasting social connections.

Auckland

Established in 1943, originally to support war veterans with life changing injuries, the Disabled Citizens Society is a non-profit organisation helping individuals with disabilities through meaningful work in a stable, safe and supportive environment. Repetitive and time consuming tasks such as assembling, packaging and labelling are the type of jobs the society members love, and although disadvantaged, they are diligent and hard workers, full of enthusiasm. It can be tough for disabled individuals to find work, which can result in isolation and mental health issues. Our programme supports our society members, providing them with a 'purpose', lasting social connections and an extra income.
