ECO

  • Thanks to all our great donors to our Mapping Sensitive Environments Project!     13 July 2017

ECO’s idea of mapping sensitive environments in New Zealand is gathering support.

The idea in the first stages, is to identify and harness information that already exists so that people in the community can see a whole lot of information about the environmental qualities of a particular place by viewing a map on line - with easy to use software.

We want to develop this idea so that people can also see what others are wanting to do, such as permits that may have been issued for certain kinds of activities, particularly, but not only, in relation to public land and waters.

The ECO executive gave the go-ahead to stages one and two of the project - and with the help of donors we have already been able to upgrade our computing power. We are also approaching software providers for help.

We are also forming a panel of volunteers and advisors, so thanks to all who have helped. We are still fund raising - so any further help with this would be welcome.

You can donate again via this page. Our grateful thanks again for your tremendous help.
