Ferrymead Heritage Park Trust is a non-profit organisation, relying on the generosity of our community to bring you a heritage experience.
Christchurch, Canterbury
Ferrymead Heritage Park began in 1964, transporting you back in time to the Edwardian (1900s) era. We are an open-air museum that houses a large array of heritage exhibitions and displays, some of which are the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere. These displays are owned and operated by individual societies and manned by their fantastic volunteers.
Our 'Learning & Discovery' program has been a very popular one-of-a-kind experience for schools and a variety of groups, for many years and we are continuing to develop this offering. It's a unique intergenerational program shared by grandparents, adults and children alike, creating fond memories and shared learning activities within families and our wider communities.
Learning & Discovery offers a rare opportunity for children to totally immerse themselves in a bygone era. From attending class in an old schoolhouse, adhering to strict old-fashioned rules and etiquette, dressing up in Edwardian clothing to learning about the life and tasks of a child from the 1900's, as well as participating in telecommunications and transportation of a past era.
Your donation will go towards keeping our culture & heritage park thriving through helping to fund learning & discovery, operations, maintenance and future development.
If you wish for your donation to go to a particular area of the above, please add a note.
Your support, big or small, will help keep our history alive!
