Glass Ceiling Arts Collective is a charity which offers accessible performance Art classes to young people with and without a disability.
Nationwide
Young people with disabilities often find there is no place for them in their local clubs (sports / arts) and they are forced to travel great distances to find special clubs which cater specifically to people with disabilities. That can be great, but it does create artificial silos of disabled people and non-disabled people.
Glass Ceiling Arts Collective takes a different approach. Everyone is welcome at Glass Ceiling Arts Collective, and we adapt our programmes to suit the individual needs of all our participants. Young people with disabilities love that they can make friends with their non-disabled peers, and live everyday lives. Meanwhile, the young people who do not have a disability simply do not care. They see past the disability. They see the person.
Glass Ceiling Arts Collective is a registered charity (Reg.CC57865) and we are raising funds so we can expand our programmes beyond Auckland to Northland, South Auckland and throughout New Zealand.
Glass Ceiling Arts Collective is a charity which offers accessible performance Art classes so Disabled youth can enjoy the performing arts alongside their non-disabled siblings and friends. Our mahi creates socially inclusive communities by providing low cost, supported arts programmes for absolutely everybody. Our organisation reflects the real world, where participants and teachers are both Disabled and non-disabled, representing the beautiful melting pot of society.
We currently have five programmes running in South Auckland, West Auckland, Tauranga, North Shore and Rodney and are scheduled to open six new programmes in regions through New Zealand over the next two years.
