End of our year
11 December 2014We closed the theatre last week with a last fundraiser for the year - and very successful it was too. An appreciative audience enjoyed the songs, poetry and reminiscences of life in early 20th century Central Otago - and the lavish 'shearer's tea' provided afterwards. We have now raised $465,000 of the $550,000 we need for the entire conservation repair of the theatre and so hope to start some of more urgently needed work in late January next year. We have already arranged to move into other premises while we are "in exile" and so will be working first in the PlayhouseTheatre (Verdict by Agatha Christie in March)and then in the Athaneum (Taking Off by Roger Hall in May and An Unseasonable Fall of Snow by Gary Henderson in July). After this we hope to be back in the Globe!
