CAMPBELL PARK CHRISTIAN CAMP

Campbell Park Chrisitian Camp is a camping facility in the heart of Mangawhai Heads, one and half hours' drive from Central Auckland. Being within walking distance of the safe Estuary Beach and Mangawhai Heads Surf Beach, makes it a very popular destination.

Campbell Park has been in operation for over 50 years. It was set up to facilitate youth work mainly in the form of camping programmes. During the late 70's and 80's the original second hand buildings were gradually replaced with 9 new cabins, a kitchen and dining room facility, plus a lounge which makes the camp the great facility that it is today.

A large variety of groups including schools, church youth groups, families and community groups continue to enjoy camping at Campbell Park.

Proposed Project: We are currently working on a project to upgrade part of the facility which includes a wheel chair accessible ablution block. This area, plus a now unused storage facility is to be turned into two additional cabins, and the wheel chair facilities will be upgraded as part of the project. Plans have been drawn up and consent from the local council has been given for this project. An estimated total cost of this upgrade is $65,000.

The two additional units will bring the cabin numbers to 11, with a total of 88 beds. A wheel chair facility is well overdue.

Raising funds for this project will enable the Committee to keep the camp fees at a minimum.
