The Rock Vets Trust

Niue Island has NO vet clinic. We want to provide volunteers for FREE clinics on Niue - so rely entirely on donations to fund us.

Auckland

Pakuranga Vet Clinic in Auckland NZ, are passionate about Niue and their animals and protecting the environment and tourism. Just over 1400 people live on the island, and are closely linked to NZ, with over 20,000 Niueans living in NZ. Niue has NO vet clinic or vet care at all and rely entirely on the generosity of volunteers. We have formed a legal entity - The Rock Vets Trust and are NZ registered Trust. As an individual organisation we wish to providing ongoing support to Niue and travel to the island 1-2 times a year to provide free vet care, desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, urgent surgical and medical attention. We are also helping with the husbandry and care of livestock such as pigs on the island. By controlling the number of feral cats and dogs which makes it safer for tourists and helps preserve the native wildlife. We can increase the health of the pets, and help the farmers with their livelihood, this will be a huge benefit to the island. Our vets and nurses will come from our clinic, with some other keen volunteers from other clinics. We use our annual leave, but we need donations to cover the costs of supplies, medicines, equipment, our flights, accommodation, insurances and other expenses etc. Without fundraising we would not be able to continue to support Niue like we hope to. So please help us help the animals and the island. Follow us on Facebook "The Rock Vets Niue".

More about us

Pakuranga Vet Clinic have taken on the challenge of helping to support the island of Niue with veterinary care. Niue have NO veterinarians or vet care on the island even though the country has a very close association with NZ. There are hundreds of dogs and cats that can benefit tremendously from our help. We wish to provide the volunteers for ongoing charity clinics to offer free desexing, vaccinations, emergency surgery, health care, worming and flea control to the island. Along with providing valuable livestock husbandry advice for the piggeries and chicken farms. Our flights, accommodation, insurances and many other expenses are funded entirely by donations. We need to raise money to provide carry cages for cats so they can be transported to the clinic and collars/microchips for dogs to enable them to be identified as owned. Our veterinarians and nurses volunteer their time and use annual leave to travel to Niue as they are so passionate about this island, their animals and their people. We plan to travel over 1-2 times a year, depending on financial restrictions so every dollar will help us continue to provide the help that is so desperately needed.
