'Walking with a Woman'

Walking with a Woman is a new gifting programme developed by the Heretaunga Women's Centre for people who wish to contribute to supporting a woman in need of counselling and support in our community.

Every year the Heretaunga Women's Centre provide a low cost and often no cost counselling service to women in the Hastings area and broader Hawkes Bay. Women frequently come to us because they are unable to pay for counselling (average costs for sessions with professional counsellors are $80-$100 per session). Our kaupapa is to never turn anyone away who is in need. All of our counsellors are fully qualified and volunteer their time to support women in need in the community. To support our counsellors and maintain a professional service the Centre pays for clinical supervision monthly for all counsellors. The Heretaunga Women's Centre has no Government funding or contracts to provide this service so we rely on community grants. To enable our service to be viable so that we can still support our counsellors the HWC needs to make a minimum of $10.00 per counselling session. Our “Walking with a Woman” programme gives the community the opportunity to support a woman through a series of 6 counselling session. Your $50.00 donation will support a woman through 6 counselling sessions – we always offer the first session for free. We will only use this support with women who are financially impoverished and cannot find any money to attend counselling sessions.

Alternatively you can donate $20.00 which will enable a women in need to complete a 10 week course/activity or alternative therapy here at the Centre.

And off course smaller one of donations are also gratefully received!!
