Awareness Prevention Health Education

Healthy Futures is a Wellington-based Charitable trust set up in 2013 by a passionate group of health professionals.

We are concerned with the increase of obesity-related health problems in communities, in particular type 2 diabetes in children. Type 2 diabetes is serious, yet it is largely PREVENTABLE. Healthy Futures was founded out of our frustration with seeing patients suffer this largely preventable but incurable disease.

Our Vision is for all New Zealand children to live in an environment that enables and supports healthy eating and physical activity.

What makes us different?

Our messages and initiatives are backed with credible and robust scientific evidence. We are not biased by commercial interests, urban mythology or popular trends.

We offer practical, achievable advice, delivered in an interactive way, to empower individuals and whanau to make sustainable healthy lifestyle choices. Our evidence based initiatives are run by qualified health professionals who have strong links within the health community.

Healthy Futures helps to improve the health and wellbeing of New Zealand children by:

- Raising awareness of food environments and how we can make changes so that it is easier for everyone to make healthy choices.

- Empowering individuals and whanau to make healthy choices.

- Providing resources to support healthy eating and physical activity.

- Providing education about type 2 diabetes and how you can prevent it.

- Raising awareness of food environments and how we can make changes so that it is easier for everyone to make healthy choices.

Type 2 diabetes is a serious health problem yet it is largely PREVENTABLE (even if you are at risk of developing it). We want to stop type 2 diabetes developing in your family and the wider community.
