It's raining inside the Malthouse!! Help keep us dry!

Have you seen our beautiful building nestled in the leafy suburb of Somerfield? The Malthouse is a Heritage Listed building and is the oldest stone building in Christchurch - older than the Cathedral and still in continual daily use.
However - our roof has seen better days and we would prefer that the rain stayed on the outside of our heritage building!
As you can see in the picture, the Malthouse has a large roof area which is in need of replacment. The integrity of the roof has declined with leaks making an appearance. Though they are repaired in a timely manner, it really needs a complete re-do.
We are in discussions to fund this job but will need to top up the balance. The latest quote was $150,000 which is a lot of Costume Hire and Cushion Theatre productions, and for the Malthouse Trust to source.
We love living here in the community and both Malthouse Costume Hire and Canterbury Children's Theatre don't want to go anywhere else.
The business of Malthouse Costume Hire lives on the ground floor and the Canterbury Children's Theatre, upstairs in their own bespoke theatre.

It's starting!! 21 November 2023
The scaffolding is up and the guys are making great progress on the new shiny roof. We are still working on making up the shortfall of $25,000 and thanks to all those who have contributed so far.
