Husky Rescue NZ takes in all abandoned, mistreated and unwanted husky-type breeds and accesses them for rehabilitation.
Welcome to Husky Rescue NZ
We Rescue, Desex, Rehabilitate, Retrain and Rehome huskies / mals and occassionally other related breeds in New Zealand.
for adoption dogs and info.
Dogs that come in need desexing, vaccinating, microchipping and to be registered. As well as some serious extra vet bills to treat other problems, like Cruciate ligaments..... $2500 minimum! Plus we need to transport them around the country.
Imagine if everyone on the page donated $1...it would be incredible.
Did you know our Founder is our main financial contributer? Michelle set this up in 2009 and has been the main financial contributer since. Now she works with the huskies daily to get bookings that financially benefit the rescue dogs. As well as running the main Christchurch base.
Our 2nd foster home is run by an awesome couple with our main lady Deb also sinking funds into helping these dogs! She used to help Malamute Rescue but as it disolved Husky Rescue NZ took on the mals too and Deb. We work in with the Malamute clubs to rehome the mals.
Dogs for adoption will be listed on the website when ready.

Charitable organisation Husky Rescue NZ takes in abandoned, mistreated and unwanted husky-type breeds and accesses them for rehabilitation.
It is the only husky-specific rescue organisation in NZ.
The organisation's founder Michelle Attwood found a desperate need for re-homing huskies in NZ and for the education potential owners.
"Many people buy huskies as a status symbol or because they simply like the look of the dog without understanding the breed's nature or characteristics," she said.
"As a result, many huskies are given up or abandoned due to lack of education or ability to care for them."
The self-funded organisation covers the cost of advertising to find new homes for its dogs, transportation, registration and veterinary treatment including de-sexing. Each husky incurs approximately $800 in costs (based on a 3 month stay). There are normally 10 to 20 dogs at a time needing rehoming.
Royal Canin recently stepped up and sponsored Husky Rescue NZ for food which is a huge help!
The organisation is in its busiest time for dog surrenders during the winter months and then again over the Christmas school holidays.
You can support through givealittle, or by setting up automatic payment donations, legacy / bequest donations or by booking a husky event for your next Corporate or private function.
