Jack Dog Center (JDC Rescue)

Jack Dog Center (JDC Rescue) is a registered charity (CC63940) and the only rescue with an active branch with kennel license in the Whakatane and Opotiki area.

All our rescues come from pounds or emergency situations. Over the past year, we’ve rescued, treated, and rehomed more than 180 dogs, including pregnant mothers, orphaned newborns, and dogs with serious injuries or illnesses. In addition to our advocacy work, we care for all rescues on-site using our own facilities—without paid staff, government grants, or funding—and rely entirely on community support. Some of our current dogs are too young to leave their mothers, others are recovering and need high-quality food, regular veterinary checkups, vaccinations, and microchips. Many require desexing, and we cover the full vet cost on the day without vouchers or rebates. We can’t help them alone—please consider donating to help our rescues!
