Kia ora. My name's Steve Hilson, and I thought I'd just take a couple minutes out from training on the beach to tell you about this awesome club where I'm a sensei.
It is the New Zealand Disability Karate Association. Our aim is to provide people with disabilities the opportunity to experience the joys and benefits of karate. We provide our training free of charge, so we need your support.
On average, it costs around about $5,000 a year to run the club. This includes hall hire, insurance, the safety equipment, and the uniforms, or gis, which we provide to our students free of charge.

Since our last update the World has changed significantly. We are in the middle of a pandemic, which had an impact on the club. Many students living with disability were unable to train in the dojo due to the risks to their health. To support them we have set up monthly Zoom classes so that they can continue to train in their safe home environment.
You can also join our Zoom classes details can be found on the website: www.karatedojo.nz
