Ki Te Tihi / The Loft Charitable Trust

The Loft is a collaborative partnership of community, social and health services working to improve the wellbeing of our community.

Canterbury

The Loft is a unique partnership of community, social and health agencies formed to improve the wellbeing of tamariki, young people (rangatahi), whānau and communities. It removes the structural barriers to services and supports that maintain social inequalities.

The Loft operates a social emergency response service (SERS). SERS puts people at the centre and does not ask people seeking assistance to describe their needs (‘self-diagnose’). Instead, it supports people to tell their stories. This approach enables clients to uncover the relationship between their experiences and needs (e.g. mental health, domestic violence, finance, housing) and so begin to develop sustainable, rather than reactive plans.

The Loft operates at the heart of Christchurch’s eastern community and people can access immediate support, with no appointment necessary.
