Laenye Productions

Laenye Productions is a theatre production company based in Tāmaki Makaurau since 2021. Our kaupapa centres on creating space for migrant artists to share their stories, with a particular focus on Latinx and Spanish-speaking communities. We are committed to multilingual, multicultural performance as both an artistic choice and a tool for inclusion.

Our work blends traditional storytelling forms with experimental theatre, reimagining ways to connect audiences across cultures. We believe that every artist should have the opportunity to create in their own language, and that everyone in Aotearoa deserves to experience the diverse cultural expressions that make up our shared home. Through theatre, workshops, and community events, we champion collaboration, identity, and innovation across languages and borders.

When we started Laenye Productions in 2021, we had one goal: to create space for migrant voices to be heard. Since then, we've brought Latinx and Spanish-speaking stories to stages across Tāmaki Makaurau—told in multiple languages, with pride, humour, heart, and fire.

Every show we make is a celebration of identity, a challenge to stereotypes, and an invitation to connect. But we can’t do it alone.
