Southland
Learning Differences Aotearoa Trust is a small Southland based charity that provides free high quality information, support and guidance for children, youth, and adults with learning differences like dyslexia. We run workshops, in person and online support groups and visit schools and workplaces to upskill staff and to raise awareness of learning differences.
We are dedicated to creating a community that provides growth, development, and acceptance of all individuals, regardless of how they learn.
Our flagship programme is Growing Stars. A workshop for children aged 6 to 12 years to help them identify and manage the emotional impact of living with a learning difference.
Learning Differences Aotearoa Trust has identified four core principles to focus on
• Assisting the growth and development of people regardless of what they bring to learning
• Promoting acceptance and understanding of learning differences
• Providing the tools for learning and strategies to meet personal learning needs, and
• Promoting self confidence and understanding that ability is developed
