Learning Differences Aotearoa Trust runs support programmes Dyslexia Support Southland and Central Otago, in addition to Growing Stars.
Dyslexia Support Southland and Central Otago are support groups for parents and caregivers of children with learning differences and learning difficulties. They provide unbiased and professional information through the website, information evenings, monthly newsletter and are available for email and phone queries.
Growing Stars is a workshop for children aged 6 to 12 years to help them identify and manage the emotional impact of living with a learning difference and learning difficulty.
Learning Differences Aotearoa Trust has identified four core principles to focus on
• Assisting the growth and development of people regardless of what they bring to learning
• Promoting acceptance and understanding of learning differences
• Providing the tools for learning and strategies to meet personal learning needs, and
• Promoting self confidence and understanding that ability is developed
