Life Education Trust - Mid South Canterbury

With a high tech mobile classroom we remove barriers to learning by visiting schools in our area to teach critical health ed.

Canterbury

When kids arrive at school and see Harold' Classroom parked up in the yard they get excited. Harold and our qualified teachers deliver an age appropriate health related programme to around 8000 children from Rakaia to Waitaki rivers and inland to Mount Cook. Our programme visits schools every year by invitation and receives no government funding whilst supporting the national curriculum.

Our lively educators use humour, technology and the fact they are not the regular teacher to connect with the kids. Our over all mission is to enable and empower the kids to make healthy choices to achieve their full potential.

The programme builds the kids knowledge year on year covering - Self Esteem, Social Relationships, Food & Nutrition, Body Systems and finally for the 9 year olds and older Substances. Over the years we teach the children how to look after their physical and mental and emotional selves by teaching them what choices there are for them and to feel confident in making choices for themselves.

Funds are needed for transport, maintenance and upgrades of the Mobile Classroom, teacher and office admin wages (the board of trustees are all unpaid volunteers), the teaching supplies and workbooks and packages the children receive.

More about us

Life Education children learn from a young age that never before in time and never again in time will there be another person like them, they're special; that their brain and body are magnificent; what the body's needs are; and that we all need to give respect and support to each other.
