Life Education has been inspiring tamariki and rangatahi to make positive choices for more than 35 years. As a charity we rely on the generous support of donors, businesses and community organisations to fund our work.
Every year through the Healthy Harold programme Life Education teach more than 220,000 children to embrace healthy choices - learning about their body, relationships and communities, their identity and resilience, food and nutrition, and helpful and harmful substances.
We capture children’s imaginations using technology that shows them the magnificence of the human body, how their brain functions, and what the body’s needs are.
We understand that mental health is critical for children growing up and work with them to build self-worth, resilience and awareness of others.
In secondary schools, Life Education support young people through three Theatre-in-Education programmes. SMASHED informs and educates young people on the dangers of underage drinking, promoting responsible attitudes towards alcohol. SMART$ encourages financial literacy, empowering young people to make positive financial choices. Behind the Scenes explores vaping and social media influence.
Life Education Trust also offers targeted professional development to equip teachers with knowledge and skills to support their students' health and wellbeing.
Your support of Life Education helps us to make a difference to the lives of children and young people in your community.
Life Education is a charity that inspires children and young people to make positive choices, so they can live full and healthy lives.
Today our young people face a lot of challenges, including: obesity, substance use, mental health and well-being and bullying. The decisions we make as young people can dramatically affect how we live our lives in the future – and this is why Life Education exists. Through education we help students to understand how decisions they make today can affect their future health and well-being.
Every year we teach over 250,000 children at primary and intermediate schools through our Healthy Harold Programme.
We also visit high schools with Smashed Project, a performance and workshop which educates year nine students about the dangers of underage drinking. In 2019 this was performed to 20,450 students from 94 schools around the country.
