Young men supporting young men battling depression in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Nationwide
Our call to action is a simple one. Helping young men. It is our passion to see young men thrive in their own walks of life, filled with enthusiasm and excitement. We understand that life isn't easy, and frankly, it can sometimes be a pain in the a**.
We don’t say we have all the answers. Our idea is, “young men, supporting young men.” Stemming from the concept that it isn’t about having a 5-step plan or process, rather, journeying and binding together for the long haul. Bringing people together who understand the situations young men are facing the most - other young men.
Relationships are at the core of our organisation. We see relationships being one of the key ways of finding the support needed to combat depression. So, what we do is take young men out on free, 1-3 day outdoor adventures, consisting of everything from abseiling off waterfalls, to hiking mountains, surfing at the crack of dawn, or 4WD - anything outdoors really. We want to create space and opportunities for young men to speak up, using outdoor adventures as our facilitator for this. Whether it's at the top of the mountain, the bonfire later that night, or on the way to KFC after being knackered.
It's about being real, open and honest. It's about having people who have your back. Who get it and relate to you. Who are willing to journey with you - binding together.
That's our mission.
