Mā Te Huruhuru Charitable Trust
Auckland
They label the most at risk young people in Aotearoa "million dollar babies" because that's how much they will cost tax payers in their young lives. But we call them our family. These young people are us and we are them.
Our organisation is fresh, innovative and futuristic. Mā Te Huruhuru is a "by Māori for Māori" charitable trust based in South Auckland who's vision is to see all young people happy and thriving. We specialise working with young people in Care.
Based on the whakatauki "Mā Te Huruhuru Ka Rere Te Manu" with adorned feathers the bird will fly. The young person is the bird and the feathers are all of the life, cultural, social and vocational skills we help them to develop to be contributing members of their whānau, hapū and iwi.
Our programmes are both online and ā-tinana ranging from licences, cv's, job placement, enterprise building to mentoring, suicide prevention, COVID-19 response, music production, as well as the Nanny Kiki and Nanny Tits show! For young people aged 10yrs - 30yrs.
We have seven really bomb staff and a youth leadership group (YLG) called "Mā'z Huru'z" yup you read right :)
Our promise is that we will continue to be bold, creative and innovative. That our programmes will be co-designed with young people and we will continue to have a whānau culture here.
Thank you for your support!
