For the steam engine to return to the QEII Park Island after a completly new boiler has been built

Wellington

The committee have been committed to making the island an iconic tourist attraction within the Wairarapa region.

All steam engines are required to have annual certifications and the steam train has to have a boiler thickness test and certified every ten years. Which seven years ago it failed and the committee decided to make this a project as the steam is a great iconic feature of the park.

I got cab rides on the steam engine by a Mr. Potts? when I was a kid. Later I was fireman on a full size steam engine with Dave Leitch who was heavily involved. Looking forward to seeing this gem running again.
