Meet the Need

Meet the Need exists to support communities across Aotearoa by ensuring foodbanks, social service providers, marae and community organisations can access high quality, nutritious protein free of charge for the whānau they serve. Our mission is to ensure that no one in New Zealand goes hungry or unnourished, and we are dedicated to generating a regular, consistent supply of nutritious protein to families in need.

Protein is one of the most expensive and least-donated items in food support, yet it’s essential for whānau wellbeing. In a country that produces world-class protein — and so much of it — no one should go without. Our charity was founded by farmers who saw this need first-hand and wanted to ensure ALL New Zealanders can access our nation’s high-quality, nutritious protein.

Since launching in 2020, we've grown to supply 135 organisations across the country on a monthly basis with meat and milk, but we need your help to keep up with supply as demand for food support continues to rise. With over 1 in 4 children living in households where food runs out often or sometimes, together we can help ensure everyone has access to essential nutritional items.
