  Auckland Childcare Sustainability Social Enterprise

We are community-based organisation that provides different services and programmes. Our first programme is our Oscar after-school and holiday programme (CYF approved). We genuinely care about children's education and aim to give families in need access to affordable child care*. We mainly target Pacific families to support them and their children to excel in good quality education, however we are very open to every family in the community. We operate different activities throughout the week including fun reading activities that encourages children to read with our volunteers and at home. We have a social enterprise business in the not for profit sector where we have a small sewing space based in Onehunga that helps us to create a little revenue to help and support our organisational goal for our children. Our sewing initiatives include a clothing-alteration service reaching out to the community in return for their generous support. We also create and produce more environmentally friendly products. Our goal is to support the Auckland Council and their goal to minimize waste and save valuable wastes in different aspects. We sew strong and reusable bags that are very stylish, yet are created from disposed materials that are still in a great valuable condition. We also create blankets, pillows, cushions and bedding that are also made from disposed yet valuable materials donated from quilting factories. Another important waste aspect is our food. We are dedicated to helping families we work with to minimize their food waste through different ways. We collect food waste from a bakery and the Avondale market, which is then distributed to the families we work with and anyone who loves to make use of these disposed yet valuable waste. We provide small gardening workshops and services and cooking workshops. We aim to help educate our community to minimize their waste in all aspects. We love to support people in multi ways to sustainably succeed in their life in New Zealand.
