We need your support to protect our precious native birds, and their habitats, from predators

for future generations.

You can help us by buying a trap…. or two, or ten.

Or you could sponsor a trap, by paying for a year’s maintenance.

Right now, we also need funds to buy a few more Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs). (We have these in case one of our tramping crew get lost or there’s an accident out in the bush.)

Possum trap $150 each

Trap bait (1 trap for 1 year) $30

Personal Locator $550 each

However, we will be extremely grateful for any sum you are happy to donate!

We need your support to protect our precious native birds, and their habitats, from predators

for future generations. Moa Conservation Trust was formed in 2014 by a group of friends who recognize and appreciate the value of New Zealand’s natural environment and the risk its indigenous birdlife and flora is exposed to as a consequence of introduced predators. New Zealand is renowned worldwide for its clean, green, natural environment and its natural heritage is in danger. Moa Conservation Trust is contributing to the conservation efforts of the Department of Conservation, and other groups throughout New Zealand, to ensure the preservation of its native birdlife, one possum at a time. Since June 2014 the trustees, along with a merry band of volunteers, have been rolling up their sleeves and getting down and dirty out in the bush in the Orogorongo and Catchpool Valleys, part of the Rimutaka Forest Park. The first two trap lines have resulted in more than 300 possum kills as at November 2015. We are seeking funding to maintain and clear the existing traps, and to install a new trap line by early 2016.
