Taranaki's real independent, alternative radio station playing a refreshing mix of Kiwi and international sounds.

Operating since 1993, The Most FM is now part of the Taranaki landscape – a welcome relief to the blandness and repetition of commercial radio. We’re a station with real soul and attitude that reflects Taranaki's diverse community. In fact, we celebrate this!

We bring you real, live announcers – about 40 of them every week – with specialist shows, interviews and guests from bands, the arts, business and the community.

The Most FM is operated by the Taranaki FM Trust, a registered charitable trust, relying on the time and effort of many volunteers and helpers. Everyone here aims to offer a community-based alternative to drab mainstream radio – focusing on a progressive mix of local, New Zealand and international music for our listeners in Taranaki and streaming from beyond.

We keep advertising to a minimum, averaging about 3 minutes an hour. We need to meet our operational costs including staff, broadcasting fees, station overheads etc from advertising and sponsorship revenues, but we rely on grants and donations for equipment upgrades and expansion.
