For people living with neuromuscular conditions Mō te hunga whai orange i te mānuka-uaua

Nationwide

September is national appeal month, help us raise money so we can continue to support our members in the central North Island region. Money raised will allow us to continue to provide community-based outreach disability fieldwork services to members with neuromuscular conditions.

We are a small member-led charity that is 100% based around member needs. While there are no cures or treatments available for these debilitating conditions, there are things we can do to help: providing education, advocacy, individual community-based support, and a sense of community for these often rare conditions that are not well understood or supported by the health and disability sector.

Please help us support our members with neuromuscular conditions to live with 'freedom beyond limits'.

More about us

MDA Central Region covers a large region in the lower North Island, from Taranaki across to the East Cape, including Gisborne, Napier, Hawkes Bay, the Wairarapa, Manawatu, Kapiti Coast and greater Wellington area.

With no government funding, the branch relies on donations and grants to continue its work in the community.  The branch committee fundraise throughout the year for local services.

Use of funds

Funds raised will help our organization in its work to support people living with Neuromuscular Conditions.

Wheels on Ice Event  10 September 2018

Posted by: Pip McLean

In August, Wellington members took to the ice to test our wits (and skills) on the outdoor ice rink at the Wellington Waterfront. Pushing our comfort zones, and the structural integrity of our chairs, we played ice-hockey, did burnouts, slammed into barriers and had a roaring good time!

Many thanks to our members who gave it a go, to our fieldworker Dympna for putting her life on the line, our awesome volunteers Joel Neurangi Latimer-Jones, Chetna Pancha, Daniel Aldridge for their support, to Wellington City Council for accessible wharf parking, and to Paradice Ice Skating for making it all possible.

....can't wait for next year!!
